“Supporting Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, & Questioning Youth while they are in Foster Care”

This training is designed to provide participants with tools and strategies to ensure the healthy physical and emotional well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Youth while they are involved with the child welfare system.
Participants will gain:
- Strategies to better ensure appropriate, supportive services for youth and families respective of their sexual orientation and gender identity;
- An understanding of the importance of identifying and developing “safe spaces;”
- Knowledge about the impact that rejection by caregivers has on LGBTQ youth;
- Knowledge about the unique challenges LGBTQ youth may face in the home, at school and in the community;
- Resources and strategies for supporting for youth, families and professionals working with LGBTQ youth.
